Today is my red Dobie Princess’s heavenly birthday. How I miss you so much, my sweet Lae’ula. Hugs and honi to you on your special day my darling dear. I know you’re in good company with your kaikua’ana, Kama’ehu and the rest of our dobie gang on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. It’s been 7 years since you’ve been gone. I’ll love you, forever. 😢💜💜💜

Join us for the last of this 3-part series of He Inoa Nō! Presented by Kumu Hula Kēhaulani Kekua, selected chants for Queen Emma and Queen Kapi’olani will expand upon the significance of wahi pana (storied places) of Kaua’i and Ni’ihau and nā lei pāpahi or unique adornments that were gifted to honor their respective visits.
Limited open seating. Hosted by the Princeville Community Association. Donations are welcome.

Every LH piece is designed and created by hand. The process is tedious requiring several days to complete. Nothing is ever “printed”.
Using a water based resist, I draw the base design on to the blank canvas of pure, white silk free hand without any stencils, patterns or guides. Then the enjoyment of slowly bringing the piece to color begins.

The only way to achieve a fusion of multiple, colors is to apply specially mixed French dyes with a paint brush, one stroke at a time.
