Around the summer solstice, daylight stretches far beyond what most people experience in the Lower 48.

In Utqiaġvik, the sun doesn't set at all! Fairbanks sees nearly 22 hours of daylight, while Anchorage gets more than 19 hours. That extra sunlight is one of the things that makes summer in Alaska so special (and helps make up for those intense winters). Long days mean more time on the trail, more time in the camp, more time on the water, and more opportunities to make the most of a short but unforgettable season.
