We get some pretty wicked winds in Alaska.

: 8 a.m. Update: At approximately 2:30 a.m. DOT&PF Maintenance crews responded by using sawsalls (saws that can cut through metal) to dismantle the decking and caging that had fallen onto the Seward Highway. We then used front end loaders to move the debris off the highway and sweepers to ensure that smaller metal components were off the highway. We have personnel stationed at the area to monitor the situation.

The bridge superstructure remains intact and our bridge engineers are responding to conduct an inspection as quickly as possible.

7:45 a.m. storm update: At approximately 2:30 a.m. Jan. 12, the Rabbit Creek Pedestrian Bridge was severely damaged, and the debris fell into the Seward Highway. The debris has been moved and all lanes of the are now open. We will share more information as we can.

Someone is diggin' her "new" bass!

Picked this up at a local auction a few days ago. It's a '97 MIM Fender Precision Bass that is pretty filthy but in great condition. Plugged it in and it sounded great, even with rusty strings. I'm fixing it up for my wife, hopefully she will like it when I'm finished.

I decided to spray 3 more coats of Crystal Granite Metallic lacquer on the Tele build, for a total of 7 coats. Then I sprayed 5 coats of clear gloss nitrocellulose lacquer on it. Next I will apply 4 more coats of clear gloss, wet sand it with 800 grit sandpaper, 3 more coats of clear gloss, another round of wet sanding, 2 more coats of clear gloss, and then a cure time of 3-4 weeks. After the gloss cures, I'll hit it with another to of wet sanding using 1000-7000 grit increments of sandpaper.
Then the fun part of hand buffing with buffing compounds until I get a mirror finish.
I'm pretty happy with the results so far. The photos were taken before any wet sanding or buffing.

Four coats of Crystal Granite Metallic paint (same color as my truck), hard to capture with the camera. Now for some fine sanding, and then a dozen (for real) coats of Clear Gloss Nitrocellulose Lacquer with lots more wet sanding every three coats.

4 light coats of vinyl sealer/primer, then sanded with 1200 grit sandpaper. Color coat is next.

Finally got going on this Tele build. Prepped it for the pour-fill (lots of sanding), applied the epoxy pour-fill and let it cure for a week, then more sanding. It is now ready for a few coats of vinyl sealer.
