A FINAL GOODBYE FROM GLORY HOLE SPORTS

Over the course of the last month, we watched our store inventory dwindle away to nothing, it was so surreal and painful but at the same time we were grateful to all you customers for helping us liquidate our inventory so we could complete the most heartbreaking thing of all and that was to close her doors on August 20, 2022. As most of you know the story...THIS NEVER SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED! but when you deal with landlords/property owners that don't care about a 38 year old icon going forward in this community this is the unfortunate results.

To once again summarize what happened..... over the course of the last 2 years, we had 3 buyers for this iconic store in escrow, which each would have kept Glory Hole Sports open, but when the landlords/ property owners, Dan & Jeanne Pinnell refused to provide reasonable lease terms each and every time we ultimately lost ALL 3 buyers. (We even offered the business to the Pinnell's in July 2022 which they declined) So with our health and well being, being affected during this 2 year battle, we sadly made the final decision to close her up.

With all that being said, we wanted to make a shout out to those in this community that really stood up and helped us out, not just during this painful close down but just being true friends throughout the years.

Glory Hole Sports has held some very special memories over the course of her 38 years and we didn't take those lightly...so we want to THANK all those customers that came in and shared those memories with us...some through tears! It broke our hearts to see this end this way..as we have said over and over again...THIS COMMUNITY AND ANGLERS ALL DESERVED BETTER!!! A big THANK YOU goes to every single customer that made Glory Hole Sports that special place over these years. Gene and I feel very fortunate to have been a part of it for the last 6 1/2 years, but devastated that it ended on our watch.

Last but not least a huge THANK YOU goes to our 2 remaining loyal and reliable employees all the way to the end and beyond.....our Assistant Store Manager Patrick Ennis and our office manager Dianne Bowcutt, we could not have gotten through this nightmare without you both.

Lots of posts, lots to do. We have had many requests for photos on the walls. Patrick is working on taking them all down. I'd say by Friday we should have them in a box if anyone would like to come and pick thru them... lots of memories on that wall.

LAST DAYS OF AN ICONIC TACKLE SHOP
MANY OF OUR CUSTOMERS HAVE KNOWN GHS HAS BEEN FOR SALE FOR NEARLY TWO YEARS
AND HAVE BEEN WONDERING WHATS GOING ON WITH RECENT LOW INVENTORY ON MANY
ITEMS ESPECIALLY ON THE TACKLE. WITH A HEAVY HEART WE ARE ANNOUNCING THE
CLOSING OF THE STORE AFTER 38+ YEARS IN BUSINESS. FACTORS IN THE DECISION TO CLOSE
GHS WAS IN DIRECT RESPONSES FROM OUR LANDLORDS TO ALL OUR BUYERS ATTEMPTING
TO NEGOTIATE A LEASE. IN EVERY INSTANCE, THEY WOULD NOT OFFER A LEASE BEYOND 5
YEARS, WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THERE WOULD BE A GAS STATION HERE AFTER 2025, AND
A RENT INCREASE FOR THE SPACE IN EXCESS OF 70%. THESE LEASE TERMS PROVIDED BY THE
LANDLORDS TO BUYERS IN OUR OPINION AND THAT OF OUR BUSINESS BROKER, KILLED OFF
ANY CHANCE OF US SELLING GHS AND ALLOWING HER TO CONTINUE HER 38 + YEARS OF
OPERATION. AT THIS TIME OUR BROKER DEEMED GHS “UNSELLABLE DUE TO LEASE TERMS”
AND CANCELLED OUR LISTING.
WE ARE DEEPLY DISSAPOINTED IN NOT BEING ABLE TO NEGOTIATE REASONABLE LEASE
TERMS WITH LANDLORDS DAN AND JEANNIE PINNELL, OWNERS OF GLORY HOLE CENTER LLC,
AND THE KIND OF IMPACT CLOSING IS GOING TO HAVE ON THE COMMUNITY, OUR LOYAL
CUSTOMERS, ANGLERS, FISHING TOURNAMENTS, RECREATION BOATERS, TRAVELERS, ALL
THE COMPANIES THAT FILL THEIR RIGS HERE…CAL TRANS, UPS, UTILITY COMPANIES, LOCAL
CONTRACTORS. THERE ARE GOING TO BE MANY TRAVELERS WHO ARE GOING TO BE
UNAWARE OF THE CLOSURE AND MANY DISSAPOINTED THEIR “ONE STOP SHOP
DESTINATION FOR EVERYTHING” IS NO LONGER OPEN.
WE WANT TO THANK ALL OUR CUSTOMERS, WE HAVE LOVED OPERATING GHS, IT HAS
ALWAYS MADE US FEEL JUST A BIT SPECIAL BEING AN INFORMATION PLATFORM FOR THE
AREA AND OFFERING OUR SERVICES TO SO MANY PEOPLE.
ONE THING WE WOULD LIKE TO SAY, THE FABRIC OF THIS STORE HAS BEEN HELD TOGETHER
BY A COUPLE OF OUR EMPLOYEES THAT WITHOUT THEM, WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AS
SUCCESSFUL AS WE ARE. WITHOUT KELLI LEWELLEN’S PASSION FOR ENGAGING CUSTOMERS,
HER FUNNY PERSONALITY AND HARD WORK, WE WOULD NOT BE WHO WE ARE TODAY. AND
(WAZZ UP!) PATRICK ENNIS IS THE GUY EVERYONE LOVES HERE, ALWAYS CALLING YOU BY
YOUR FIRST NAME AND A GUY WHO WILL TAKE TIME WITH EACH CUSTOMER WANTING A
GOOD FISHING TIP OR DIRECTIONS SOMEWHERE. PATRICK HAS A WORK ETHIC THAT YOU
