Every week at Dungeon’s Gate we feature a game that you can try before you buy. This week you can learn to play Flamecraft Duals, where you'll place dragons, fire up powers, and match the most shops!

Ever wondered what the dragons of Flamecraft do on their lunch break? Play Flamecraft Duals, of course! Set in the world of Flamecraft, Duals is a two-player travel-friendly game of pattern-making and quick, puzzly fun! You will meet the artisan dragons again with new powers, and this time the challenge is to get your dragons in a row. As you draw dragons, you might get lucky and come across a rare dual-colored Hydragon, with double the artisanal skills! As you play, the board will fill up with adorable dragons, stacking and soaring across the table, and you will work to fire-up their abilities, make matches, and complete shop cards.

Flamecraft Duals is a two-player abstract pattern-building game that takes about 30 minutes to play. Each round, a player draws a dragon from the bag and places it on the shared central board. Every dragon type has a special ability that can be fired up to draw more dragons or rearrange those already on the board. You want to match three dragons on the board to the pattern on the shop cards in your hand to score them. Once all the dragons are drawn from the bag, the game ends and the player with the highest score wins.

➡️ We’ll be demo-ing Flamecraft Duals all week long--and you can try it out: Tues-Fri 12-10, Sat 10-10, and Sun 12-10.

👀 Now’s your chance to weigh in on what you’d like to see in the Play to Win games at Capital City Gaming Con this year (10/16-18). Best part? You could Play…AND Win one. It’s right there in the title…

We need your help deciding on what will be up for grabs in our PLAY TO WIN library! What games do you want to play and have a chance at taking home.

Check out what we have available already: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/382721/capital-city-gaming-con-2026-play-to-win-list
or add your suggestions via BGG here: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/384975/capital-city-gaming-con-2026-play-to-win-suggestio

Suggestions should typically avoid the following (though exceptions will sometimes be made):

1. CCGC tries to have 2 copies of PtW games available, so games that are especially "hot" may not be easy to find.

2. Solo games - Solo games are not a good fit for PtW.

3. Legacy games - These are not a good fit for PtW games.

4. Campaign games - These are case-by-case. Some work fine, but if there are envelopes, boxes, or card packs to open it makes it very difficult to reset so a new group can play it.

5. Expensive games - It's harder to justify purchasing games that are $120+ per copy, because that results in fewer games available for attendees to win. It may be considered if the game is really desirable.

6. Old games - Older games should be available from Board Game Wagon's library, so the preference is games released in the last year or two. There are exceptions, such as coveted / long awaited reprint or anniversary editions. This tends to be case-by-case.

7. Collectible / Living games - Any game that is designed to have many additional expansion packs is not a good fit.

8. Miniature games - Games with miniatures are fine, this refers to games similar to Warhammer where you move miniatures around a map or terrain.

Once again thank you to our partners for helping us make this event happen:
