At about 10:30 this morning, shortly after opening and as the store started to fill with happy shoppers, I had to step away.
As much as I wanted to greet everyone, hug our regulars and welcome new faces, I was just too overwhelmed.
With gratitude.
I can't quite put into words how I've been feeling heading into this holiday season but anxious and overwhelmed are the first things that come to mind. It's endless work, late nights and a to-do list that never seems like it gets nearly close to done by the end of the day. It's like a version of the "Sunday Scaries," but knowing I'm not just staring down a work week, but a crazy 14-week stretch of long shoppe hours and a lot less family time.
But this team.
But my husband.
But our customers.
But GOD.
None of them let me down this week. The ways these ladies and the rest of our team came early and stayed late this week was nothing short of amazing. They're every bit as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside, plus SO funny and a true joy to be around, too. Our shirts say "Real Deals Family Christmas" because these ladies are the shoppe family we'd choose 100x over again.
The way my husband managed three busy kids' sports schedules, shipping out 150 of the books we wrote (!!!) and still managed to check in on me throughout the week reminded me just how lucky I am to do business + life with him.
And our customers. Gosh, where to begin?! The hugs, the smiles, the words of encouragement, dropping off treats and coming back with friends... I don't have any words other than to say, you keep this place running in so many ways other than purchases.
And, most importantly, GOD.
I’ll be the first to admit I’ve carried a lot of worry lately; the unknowns, things outside of my control and what the future holds. But this week, God has shown up BIG in ways I simply can’t explain. And I know without a shadow of a doubt that I’ve witnessed answered prayers and with that has come an overwhelming sense of peace.
I don't know what the next week or the rest of the holiday season holds, but I do know that I'll have the very best company for the ride and for that, I'm eternally grateful.
Love you all. More than you know.
