Literati opened in March 2013 in the hopes of adding and enhancing the vibrant downtown culture and arts scene. We aim to be a place where book lovers can go, talk, and interact with each other. We host author readings, book clubs, poetry nights, children's story times, and free book clubs. We were honored in 2019 as the Indie Bookstore of the Year. Anne Carson, just awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature, has been a supporter of our bookstore since we opened. We've been so lucky to host Anne several times for remarkable, unique, and profound in-store readings. Those readings and events changed us, much like her art and writing. We even have an author wall where we invite writers to leave inspiration behind for aspiring artists to ponder; Anne's contribution is pictured here. We're grateful to have had Anne's and her husband Robert Currie's support over the years; we're thrilled the Nobel committee recognized Anne's writing and that new readers around the world may discover her profound way of looking at the world.

When you buy a book from an indie bookstore, you can share them, lend them out, resell them, put them on your shelves for the rest of your life, give them to your grandkids, decorate your house with them, and actually own them. What a concept.
