HOW DO YOU LIVE WHEN EACH DAY MIGHT BE YOUR BROTHER'S LAST?

That's the question posed in Sound of a Blink, the newest work from Shuzo Oshimi. It's a semi-autobiographical, somber, coming-of-age story centered around an aspiring artist, struggling to find his way while dealing with the complexities of his own unique family dynamic.

"Life is going well for Shuzo. He’s in college, has a serious girlfriend, and just won his first manga award. But when his younger brother is diagnosed with a brain tumor, Shuzo is sucked back into the complicated family dynamics of his childhood."
- description via VIZ Media

Known for manga such as Drifting Net Cafe and Blood on the Tracks, Oshimi's works often revolve around themes of adolescence with a disconcerting, almost psychological horror twist. Sound of a Blink continues this thread, but without a fictional veneer, reflecting on his real life memories and the complicated pain that comes with them.

You can find volume 1 in the manga section of your preferred Vault of Midnight.

FOUNDATIONS OF ROME: EMPEROR EDITION IS BACK IN STOCK 🧱🏛

The lavishly produced yet long out of stock Foundations of Rome has returned to the shelves of your local Vault of Midnight (and online at vaultofmidnight.shop)!

"The city-building board game Foundations of Rome puts you into the role of an architect competing to own land and build magnificent structures! Build domūs and insulae, fountains, foundries, and more to increase your renown - gaining glory for yourself and the empire...
Players collect Glory Points at the end of each round based on the population and commerce they have brought to the city as well as gaining glory for civic buildings that score not only based on their own buildings, but those of their opponents!"
- description via Arcane Wonders

Don't be intimidated by the behemoth of a box -- Foundations of Rome is a medium to light-ish weight board game that takes around 90 minutes and supports 1-5 players. Plus, it's designed by famed board game designer, Emerson Matsuuchi, known for hits like Century and Metal Gear Solid: The Board Game.

"Fast, fun and gorgeous! This beauty is easy on the eyes and easy to teach. Gameplay is brisk and is standing room only. Absolutely love this game, and yes it's probably overproduced but it will hit the table all the time!" - Captain "Curtis" Midnight

NO REAL PALEONTOLOGY DEGREE REQUIRED HERE

Generally speaking, it's frowned upon to dig up large chunks of random land without a permit. I know, I know, I hear you. "But what if there's a bunch of really cool fossils under there??" Look, I get it... Hmm, maybe we can get you permission for around 15-30 minutes. And you can even bring up to 3 pals. How about that?

"Digging for Dinos is a quick and clever fossil-hunting strategy game for kids, families, and adults. Players become rival paleontologists, navigating a dig site to collect fossil tiles and assemble complete dinosaur skeletons. With easy-to-learn rules, unique movement mechanics, and high-quality wooden components, Digging for Dinos delivers fast, replayable fun for players of all experience levels."

Live out your dream of uncovering rare and exciting ancient fossils with this grid-based board game that blends spatial strategy with a bit of good ol' fashioned luck!

"Digging for Dinos is so fun! It's a race to complete your dinosaur skeletons with varying degrees of difficulty and restricted paths of movement. You'd do well to plan your moves ahead, but watch out for your competitors! I love to win, it's the best." - Liz the Lambeosaurus

20 YEARS OF HATCHING MAGICAL EGGS 🥚✨

No, I don't mean chicken eggs. I mean brightly-colored fairy eggs that give you special powers, obviously!

"Amu Hinamori is known among her fellow elementary students as a 'cool girl' with a spicy personality, but behind closed doors she’s actually extremely shy and wishes she could be brave enough to embrace her feminine, cutesy side. Her wish is granted in the form of three character eggs that hatch into Guardian Characters—mysterious entities that not only encourage her to achieve her potential but can even power her up by granting special abilities. Together with the student council, Amu must use her newfound powers to stop the evil forces feeding on the darkness in people’s hearts…"

💀 NEW COMIC BOOK DAY IS ON WEDNESDAY 💀

Did you feel that chill running down your spine? Maybe it's from the weather, or you thought about that scary movie you watched last night... or, maybe it's a chill in anticipation of all the sweet new comic books, graphic novels, and manga releasing tomorrow!

You might notice fewer than normal new Marvel titles on the shelves, but it's with good reason. This week is the big grand kickoff for Marvel's new storytelling initiative, the Midnight Universe, which "reimagines the Marvel Universe and its iconic characters through a darker, more sinister lens." Hmm, does that sound a little familiar to you? We're diving right in with not one, not two, but THREE flagship titles right off the bat: Midnight Fantastic Four #1, Midnight Spider-Man #1, and Midnight X-Men #1!

Other titles of note this week include:

➡ Demon #1
➡ Jonah Hex and the Shadow of Death #1
➡ DC's Quoth the Raven...Whatever #1 (one-shot)
➡ Something Is Killing the Children #50
➡ G.I. Joe A Real American Hero / Tomb Raider #1

Check out our story for the full list of new releases!
