Spun School is here for your craft education! Our expert instructors are ready for you!

There are spots available in all of these classes:
🧶 Beginning Knitting ~ start at the start and finish with hand warmers.
🧦 Toe-Up Socks ~ the Utsubo socks are full of skill building: increases, short rows, and i-cord bind off.
🧶 Granny Squares ~ classic, cute, and fun to make!
🧶 Chunky Hat ~ learn to knit in the round (no seams!) using a circular needle and double-pointed needles (DPNs) and end up with your first hand knit hat!
🪡 Mattress Stitch ~ the seaming technique that can look invisible and is part magic!
✋🏼 Mitten Workshop ~ so many skills in this class too: knitting in the round on DPNs, ribbing, increasing, putting stitches on hold, decreasing, and optional duplicate stitch.

Spun Project of the Week!
Pattern FREE with kit purchase

Isabell Kraemer’s SSP (slip stitch party) Shawl offers a gorgeous play of textures and color. The bands of varying stitch patterns are all made using slip stitch colorwork (you only work with one color at a time), so you can play with all the colors without stress! Harrisville Shetland (100% virgin wool) is a woolen-spun yarn that relaxes and blooms with blocking.

Anne notes, “The SSP Shawl was such a fun knit! I love when a pattern has a variety of stitch patterns, especially when mosaic knitting is involved. This is a pattern I would make again with all the Shetland color choices!”

🧪 Witch craft 🔮 Craft Witch 🪄 Which craft? 🧶 Here for it all!
Autumn Aslakson visited last week with a fresh batch of yarn bowls! They’re magical. There are cauldron yarn bowls! And we’re loving the texture of the bowls with unglazed rims. There are a few that are masterfully misshapen — the rim is level, the base is level, but there is some sculptural magic happening in the midsection! 😍 (I forgot to take a pic of that one, so I’ll show it in stories tomorrow.) And remember the other magic ingredients! Knitters’ Oracle deck and witchy enamel pins & stickers bring the right mood. Maybe add some mystical embroidered garden of herbs or a cross stitched slimy sidekick! 🐸 Base ingredient: YARN, always start with yarn! 😉 Dry ice not included. 🧊

Notes for early September events at Spun! This Sunday, 2~4pm, there will be Spin In Drop In! We host a social spinning circle on the first Sunday of each month. Bring your wheel/spindle and fiber (or pick some up at Spun!) to join the group for a couple of very pleasant hours. And speaking of very pleasant hours, we also host a craft circle on each Sunday from 1~3pm (and evenings 4~6pm, Mondays through Thursdays). Maybe you’d care to join us for that too!

Then next weekend, Sept. 12 & 13, join us in welcoming Erin Baker of Beagle & Badger! Erin will bring a pop-up shop of her beautiful, hand-dyed yarns!

Erin’s colorways tell wonderful stories that we can then craft into stories of our own. We hope you will join us to welcome Erin!
