๐๐ซ Itโs been a while since I shared one of my little labors of loveโฆ but this one feels extra special.
I created this miniature summer berry cake on a quiet afternoon when I was missing my mother's kitchen in Tennessee. I can still hear the creak of her back screen door, the hum of the box fan, and the smell of vanilla and fresh berries dancing in the air. Every summer, she made a naked cake just like this simple, light, and full of love. No fancy frosting. Just layers of flavor and tradition. She would display the cake on a beautiful vintage strawberry shortcake cake stand gifted by my great aunt Fannie.
That memory was the spark for this piece. I sculpted every raspberry and blueberry by hand, gave the little pitcher slices of โlemon,โ and added the tiniest mint leaves with tweezers. The wood board was created with popcicle sticks that were cut, sanded and glued one by one then coated with a couple layers of white chalk paint. Every detail of this miniature pulled me back to a moment that felt warm, still, and safe. Thatโs the magic of minis they capture feelings too small to say out loud.
This isn't just a cake. It's a memory in 1:12 scale. A tribute to summer joy, family kitchens, and the quiet moments that stay with us forever.
If this little slice of life made you smile, Iโm glad it found you today.
Feel free to tag a friend who would appreciate the sweetness and nostalgia in this piece.
