This week’s featured w**e is one I didn’t see coming.

Uruguay isn’t exactly the country you picture when somebody says “pour me a glass of w**e.” But Garzón has been quietly making some of the most interesting whites in South America, and this Albariño Reserva 2022 landed on W**e Spectator’s Top 100 list, which is not a list they hand out for participation.

The vineyard sits just 18km from the Atlantic, on rocky, mineral-rich soil, and you can taste it.

Crisp, bright, a little saline, with enough acidity to cut through anything you’re grilling this week. It’s the kind of white that makes you rethink what “coastal w**e” even means, because apparently it doesn’t have to come from Spain or Portugal to get it right.

We’ve got it in stock now at Southern General, and it will not last at this price for something that made a Top 100 list.

Come pull up a seat at the table! We will be sampling on Saturday.

One of my favorite things about our little shop is the number of friendships that have been forged between these walls. I know personally of many (many) dozens of fine folks I never would have met had we not opened the shops.

If you missed my personal post last night, I previewed our newest nacho creation for Saturday...Fiesta Steak Nachos with queso, roasted corn, pico de gallo, optional jalapeños, and steak, with a drizzle of lime crema.
