A pretty special piece of Red Sox history.
From 2025 Topps Dynasty, this Mookie Betts 1/1 features an on-card autograph and a jumbo “RED” game-used jersey patch — but the story behind the jersey is what really makes this card for me.
The patch is from the Red Sox Foundation’s 15th Anniversary uniform. The Foundation is the official team charity of the Boston Red Sox, founded in 2002 with a mission centered around improving health, education and recreational opportunities for youth, families, veterans and communities in need.
For its 15th anniversary in 2017, the Red Sox held a special celebration during the Yankees series at Fenway Park, August 18–20, 2017. The entire Red Sox team wore jerseys featuring the Foundation’s 15th Anniversary logo, with those jerseys subsequently auctioned to benefit the Foundation’s charitable programs and partners.
That means the piece embedded in this card isn’t just a random Red Sox jersey swatch — it’s from a distinctive, identifiable Mookie-era Red Sox uniform connected to a specific Yankees weekend at Fenway and a meaningful chapter in the Foundation’s history.
Every uniform has a logoman or laundry tag, this patch is featured on a maximum of 3 jerseys.
And then there’s Mookie’s Topps autograph history. He signed for Topps in 2014, then didn’t sign for them again until 2024 — by which point he was a Los Angeles Dodger. So getting a modern Mookie autograph paired with a game-used piece from his Red Sox days makes this one particularly special.
For me, this is probably the 3rd-best Red Sox Mookie Betts card ever produced, behind only his 2014 Bowman Chrome Auto 1/1 and 2014 Bowman Chrome Auto /5.
