✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ Update. As a reminder, I am doing a chevron scarf with Fiji by Queensland. Remember how I said it isn’t fun to tink (knit backwards) with sticky yarn? Turns out it’s a lot easier to frog (rip out rows) with sticky yarn. One of my yarnovers was out of place about 3 inches back. It’s all about what you can live with, and I decided I couldn’t live with that. So imagine this 3 inches longer. Still loving the striping. Fiji is still 25% off during this ✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ project.

The Falling Leaves Cast On Party was so much fun. It was so fun, in fact, we forgot to take pictures. It did happen, though! My pattern is the Gingko (Ginko) Hat. I chose a random yarn from my stash and one of the fall colors from Colored by Kristi. There isn’t as much contrast as I wanted, but I am loving the hat! It’s subtle, but I can still see the ginkgo leaf, and the two yarns together absolutely scream autumn. I can’t wait to see the finished product. My only question at the end is if I should reverse the colors, pick up stitches around the brim, and make a reversible hat or make the matching mittens. What do you think? Be sure and share your Falling Leaves progress!

If you are not familiar with SACK - Supporting A Community with Kindness, they are a charitable organization that connects knitters and crocheters with local food pantries, homeless shelters, veterans clinics, and other community organizations by encouraging volunteers to make handmade soap sacks and donate them with full bars of soap in original packaging.

These small handmade projects are simple, meaningful, and practical. Using Queensland Collection Coastal Cotton, makers can knit or crochet soap sacks that offer comfort, dignity, and kindness to someone in need.

Most soap sacks take about an hour to complete, making them a wonderful quick project for customers looking to give back. A small project can make a big impact, and this is a beautiful way for local yarn shops and makers to come together in support of their communities.

Thank you for helping us spread the word and for continuing to make your shop a place where creativity, generosity, and community come together.

Happy Knitting ❤️

✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ Update:

I am still loving the pattern, which ultimately is just a chevron pattern but looks so pretty with the striping of the yarn. The yarn, Fiji by Queensland, is rather sticky. Much to my dismay, I have to tink (knit backwards) several rows. This isn’t fun with sticky yarn. If that is something that frustrates you or you just can’t stand, this probably isn’t the yarn for you. The way it’s working up is more of a positive for me than sticky yarn is a negative. If sticky yarn doesn’t bother you, I would definitely give Fiji a try.

You might remember a couple of weeks ago we posted about the line of Eco Max scrubbers, scourers, and brushes we are carrying at the shop. I bought one because I was tired of smelly sponges and plastic scrubbers that fell apart. Not only are the Eco Max products more environmentally friendly, I found out just how strong they are. My Eco Max scrubber slipped into the garbage disposal without my noticing. I turned the disposal on not just once but twice. Fine, three times. OK! OK! Four times! I ran the scrubber through four times before I wondered why my garbage disposal was making that funny noise! Happy? Anyway, I pulled the scrubber out and, much to my surprise, it looked perfectly fine other than what appeared to be a close shave on one side. I would like to see a sponge or plastic scrubber hold up like that! if you are wondering if you should get one of the Eco Max products, yes. The answer is yes.

Have you chosen your pattern for our Falling Leaves Cast-On Party this Saturday? I chose Ginkgo (spelled Ginko in the pattern) Hat by Dela Hausmann. Don't you think it would look fantastic with the Colored by Kristi Yarn? What do you think - Indian Corn on the left or Playing in the Leaves on the right for the leaves?

Next up in our ✨Shop Sample Spotlight✨ is a modification of Bluestone Scarf by Sherri Steele-Carlin, part of the Queensland Collection. This is being knit with Fiji, a 100% merino wool designed and painted in Tuscany. Fiji is 328 yards of color changing goodness. At the width I am doing, it is self-striping and looks so pretty! It is absolutely beautiful and lovely to knit with and would look fantastic as the leaf part in a cowl or hat leaf pattern. Don’t forget, Fiji is 25% off during this Sample Spotlight.
