大芝加哥地區有幾家台灣餐廳，是鄉親們品嚐台灣味的好所在。駐芝加哥辦事處類處長延峰近日應邀到伊利諾州台灣人開的餐廳「Tugo Tea House」，與鄉親們聊商情、政情、科研及生活近況，順便享受鹽酥雞、香腸及珍珠奶茶等道地台灣小吃，真是愉快！
Tugo Tea House 由 Jessica與Gerald Barrett夫婦創立，於2019年左右開業，希望將道地的臺灣飲食文化介紹給美國社區。Jessica來自臺灣南部，主要負責料理；店名「Tugo」據稱源自她在臺灣成長的村落名稱，也與英文 to go（外帶）形成有趣的諧音。
店內除了珍珠奶茶、烏龍茶、茉莉綠茶及水果茶等飲品，也供應多種臺灣家常料理與夜市小吃，較受歡迎的包括：
* 臺灣牛肉麵
* 鹽酥雞
* 炸排骨便當
* 滷肉飯
* 臺灣香腸
* 鍋貼及芋頭甜品
其特色是將「茶館」與「臺灣小吃店」結合，氣氛親切樸實，是芝加哥郊區推廣臺灣庶民飲食文化的一個窗口。
The greater Chicago area is home to several Taiwanese restaurants where members of our community can enjoy the familiar flavors of Taiwan. Director General Dennis Yen-Feng Lei of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Chicago recently visited Tugo Tea House, a Taiwanese-owned restaurant in Illinois, where he caught up with members of the community on the latest developments in business, politics, scientific research, and everyday life. The gathering was made even more enjoyable by authentic Taiwanese favorites such as popcorn chicken, Taiwanese sausage, and bubble tea!
Tugo Tea House was founded by Jessica and Gerald Barrett and opened around 2019 with the goal of introducing authentic Taiwanese food culture to the local American community. Originally from southern Taiwan, Jessica is the culinary talent behind the restaurant. The name “Tugo” reportedly comes from the village in Taiwan where she grew up, while also offering a playful nod to the English phrase “to go.”
In addition to bubble tea, oolong tea, jasmine green tea, and fruit teas, the restaurant serves a wide variety of Taiwanese home-style dishes and night-market favorites. Popular menu items include:
* Taiwanese beef noodle soup
* Popcorn chicken
* Fried pork chop bento
* Braised pork rice
* Taiwanese sausage
* Potstickers and taro desserts
Combining the charm of a traditional tea house with the flavors of a Taiwanese eatery, Tugo Tea House offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It also serves as a wonderful showcase for Taiwan’s vibrant culinary culture in the Chicago suburbs.
