I spent some time looking for and with short story collections that reminded me in one way or another of my own work in the series (books 1 and 2). Really happy I did this as there are some gems in this collection worthy of a jewelry case. For further reference, check out my website (link in bio) or my Goodreads profile for their respective . If it matters, to test the flavor of multiple indie and self-published authors, I did not read every collection from front to back. That was not the intent of the exercise. Rather the intent of the exercise was twofold.
First, I wanted to read one story from each collection to decide whether to invest in an author's potentially longer work, like a novel, at a later date...for my own pleasure. Second, I wanted to give some exposure to new voices. All that said, some collections I did read in their entirety, at times in one sitting. Others got less of my attention for various reasons, mostly because I fell asleep or dinner was ready. Oddly enough, some of those one-offers were my favorite of the bunch. Those authors that I had the pleasure of corresponding with are tagged. They are worthy of your patronage.
