Dege saw a leather hat that was made using a light yellow deer skin. He wanted me to make him something similar.

Rather than making a leather hat from scratch, I covered a straw hat in leather.

It required a little bit of patterning, some glue and leather lace.

Kayla came into the shop this past Spring & commissioned her second hat!

It feels good when clients come back. Kayla had been a part of the FauxyFurr Experience for years. She had Boho Boots with feather bands, earrings, beautiful vintage boots, a custom fedora and now… the Rose Crown!

What I love about Kayla is how intelligent she is navigating life…punctual, organized, observant, emotionally intelligent.

Her Rose crown required several meet ups to get the hand shaped crown just the right height and soft swoop.

She went with a color called anthracite in a western weight. Great for our PNW weather round here.

For trims we used a black lace and layered black leather.
If you look closely you can see hand stitches in black thread for a little 🔥.

The fit was spot on, the shape was spot on.

We worked through this design together and achieved gorgeous results.

I find it surprising when people visiting the store want to know who takes care of all the plants— 🤷‍♀️

Almost weekly I have someone who comes into the shop asking for a hat they saw on instagram. I love a challenge.

Patrick is a local Police Officer and former Military Member— Aka bad ass!

Patrick is a blend of gentle giant and powerful protector. He waited a long time for his hat— patiently and with kindness. He came into the shop in February and commissioned a skull inset with a coffin top. I delivered it today.

This was a hat request I had not done before. I ordered a 3D printed block off Etsy and waited months for it to arrive. The block gave me just the skull imprint. Everything else was done by hand.

We met 3 times and worked through the fit— getting it just right, finessing the brim shape and adding the specific contours he wanted on the crown.

This project is the perfect example of working through the process together, as a team. It’s refreshing when my client can clearly ask for what he wants.

The crown is blocked 6” tall and open crown to begin. Then the sanding and seizing (setting on fire) takes place. The skull gets imprinted next. Then the coffin top is shaped by hand. It’s a slow process and I find it hilarious that people think it’s done within a 60 second reel. WTH is wrong with people. Yeah. 60 seconds, next?

Ellen has been a part of the FauxyFurr Experience for years. I’m fairly certain we met in our little store years ago.

I was very excited to hear she was ready to design a custom hat with me this past Spring.

What I love about Ellen is how thoughtful she is in navigating life. Ellen’s style is simple—She likes nice fabrics, classic cuts & timeless colors.

We went with a beautiful sage green rabbit fur felt. A color that can be worn with black, brown, grey & white. We chose a small pinch front crown and a slightly down turned brim.

This particular hat is one of my favorites to make for women who want a hat they can easily wear.

We finished the hat with monochromatic ribbon trim.
