Now the hard work continues. Going through all the plastic, rubber & glass parts that can be salvaged and the rest thrown away. It is so inefficient when your bottom shelf’s in your parts room have to be 18” off the floor. Nothing about this is fun, but it will yield a flood proof parts room. Correction a flood resistant parts room.

Tropical Storm Ophelia dumped 4.10 inches of rain in a short period of time and the small little stream behind our office crested it banks and flooded our offices with 17" of water. This is the fourth tinme this has happened to us, you think I would learn by now...

Heroes. HK employees are Heroes.
I hire employees to install & fix industrial washers & dryers. I do Not hire them to schlep garbage and sopping wet cardboard that needs to be embraced and carried to the dumpster.

Two my employees had water in their own homes and they can to work to help HK get back in operation again.

On Thursday HK experienced a flood with 18" of water in our offices. The HK offices are in the basement level of our building and we have had prior experience with floods. the first flood was Hurricane Floyd back in 1999 and the 2nd was Hurricane Irene in 2011. The 10-12 year cycle repeats again but this Tropical Storm Ida.

After Irene, we had curtain drains installed around the perimeter of the building and 3 pairs of sump pumps installed (plus a spare). How did all of those sump pumps fail to do the job? Simple, when you loss power in a storm, your 7 sump pumps won't work.

A Big thank you go out to my team of employees who keep the business running and a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart to the team that cleaned up the mess. Thank you.
