Day 4 of our focus on dog breeds! Today's breed group: herding dogs! These dogs were bred to work on farms with livestock and as such, they are very intelligent and have lots of energy! Herding behaviors include chasing, barking, nipping, and corralling. These behaviors were originally used to move cattle, sheep and other livestock, but even if your herding dog doesn't actually live on a farm, you might still see these traits! Dogs from this group might enjoy puzzle games and dog sports.
Fun fact: Australian Shepherds aren't actually from Australia! This breed originated in the United States within the last 100 years.
