Seven years ago, I found myself at a crossroads. I had just closed my cellphone store — it wasn’t the right business anymore, and I knew I needed something that spoke to my soul. One day, while listening to Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 by the Beastie Boys, the name hit me: Funky Donkey. It had the perfect vibe — funky, fun, and full of character — just like the shop I wanted to build.
Cannabis has always been a big part of my life. I’ve traveled the world chasing the culture — from the coffee shops of Amsterdam to the hills of Jamaica. Smoking by the canals, visiting museums, walking the city with a joint in hand and inspiration in my heart — those are the moments that shaped me. Back home in NYC, I’d spend hours walking around, lighting up, and taking in the street art, the graffiti, the rhythm of the city. That energy lives in Funky Donkey.
