This year’s pick for One Book, One Buncombe - a communitywide reading program presented by our public libraries - was Happy Land by acclaimed writer and historian Dolen Perkins-Valdez, whose novel is set right here in Western North Carolina.

The program concludes with a free community author event this Saturday at 2pm at A-B Tech. No advance registration is required to attend this program. The event will also be livestreamed to the Buncombe County Government page. 

The author will sign books afterwards and books will be available for purchase from Malaprop’s.
