An update and hat drop:
Hey y'all! Mary Lynn here in Asheville, NC. Recently our beautiful town had disaster funding cut. This has closed several hundred small businesses, and we are all fighting to stay afloat after the hurricane last year. We are actively rebuilding, and incredibly grateful for all of the non profits and volunteers still working hard to facilitate our recovery.

This freeze has forced me to lay off my team, and I am working hard with my longtime production manager, .travis.n and my amazing partner, Busy Bee Prosthetics. We are currently housing two maker outfits displaced by the storm, and have space for one more in our warehouse!

Today, all purchases go towards outfitting to add another maker to our studio who has lost their space. We won't give up, we will rebuild, and we need your help!

Buy anything! Everything is 50% off today (hint, hats are only $15!) And every penny goes to our space, to keep making art and cool handmade goods!

Y'all! is live! We are celebrating, after months of holding at our local fedex post hurricane, we got a giant leather shipment in! We are sewing like maniacs, getting caught up! This has been the hardest few months we have ever experienced in our 17 years of being In Blue Handmade. Overnights at our now functioning studio, massive loss of infrastructure and community, and logistical holds that have been so far out of our control. I knew the morning of the storm that everything would change, but had no idea how much...
We are celebrating any wins our small biz can get. Ok! These are actionable things you can do right now. My service is so limited, I can't even tag reliably. Please remember if you're texting folks here, send actual info, not links. Addresses written out. Copy and paste info into your texts. Most of us cannot open a website!
Please, please, please post info you have in our comments on where to help. I cannot stress enough that I'm posting only what I have heard and seen, and we know that other towns in the area need help. Our followers are mostly not local and eager to help WNC so let them know how to help and what you need. Let's keep that to trusted organizations.

Hey y'all: UPDATE:
Mary Lynn here in Asheville.
We are safe. We are heartbroken. We are helping neighbors, looking for missing friends and family. I'm writing you while I am in line to get gas, I cannot get consistent internet on the emergency data towers from my phone right now, understandably. Right now, we are unable to access email for customer service. We are trying autoresponses, but have no way to know if those are going through to everyone. We are looking at internet access options daily, while balancing getting supplies, etc.
This is a disaster. We are missing loved ones. Accessibility to our team is limited, we are separated by landslides, interstates that no longer exist, and still flooded roads that will impossible to drive on when the water fully recedes. Schools are closed indefinitely. Katie (our amazing cfo) and I are able to be in the room together! We are planning. Our FIRST priority is to keep ourselves and our team safe.
We do not yet have power, though some do today! Word is that power does not yet include internet. Or running water (word on the street now is up to 4 weeks until water is restored).
I have lists of where we need help in town, particularly in neighboring Madison County. Will post how to help with sanitation and hygiene products shortly, I'm working on those lists with our best friends in Marshall, Hot Springs and Spring creek, all also devastated and in desperate need of items at their shelters. These are small towns cut off from a lot of what we can access here now. Everyone in WNC needs things, and we want to help spread the word.

THANK YOU for your love. If I could answer Instagram messages now, I would! THANK YOU to the community. Thank you to the electricians. THANK you to our first responders. Thank you fema, world central kitchen and countless other organizations with boots on the ground. We are so grateful, and we love y'all so much.
