One of today's pianos was this beautiful Kawai grand. Along with tuning it, I spent some time cleaning years of dust from the soundboard and plate, and giving the keys a good wipe-down.
A good cleaning can go a long way toward improving the appearance of a piano's inside and helping it stay in good condition.
Another piano ready to help fill this church's auditorium with music.

Occasionally, I work with some pretty old pianos. Today, I tuned and repaired a few keys on a Haddorff vertical piano from 1917 - about 107 years old!
My favorite thing on these old pianos is to find little notes left by technicians past - this piano had one W. H. Sherrill's records of when they had tuned it between 1931 and 1945. I wonder if W. Sherrill could have predicted that almost 100 years later, someone named Justin would be sitting in front of this piano tuning it.

I had the GOLDEN opportunity to take a tour of the Mason & Hamlin piano factory in Haverhill, MA this morning. What a great experience! I got to see how they manufacture pianos from start to finish.
