"Here's the thing nobody talks about: foxes are basically doing pest control that costs us nothing, and we're actively poisoning them for it.

Wisconsin lost 80% of its fox population between 1984 and 2009. Lyme disease cases went up 300% in that same window. Martha's Vineyard, which has almost no foxes, has Lyme rates five times higher than nearby Woods Hole, which is basically fox central. This isn't a coincidence—it's ecology.

White-footed mice are the main reservoir for Lyme disease. Foxes eat white-footed mice. Fewer foxes means more mice, more infected ticks, and you spending the summer paranoid about every bump on your skin. It's a straightforward chain.

So if you actually want to help instead of just posting about it: stop using rodenticide (it k*lls foxes, owls, and hawks when they eat the poisoned rodents). Secure your trash and chicken coops. Keep your cats inside. And the next time you see a fox, maybe don't immediately assume it's a threat.

The predator you're mad at is literally saving you from Lyme disease."

We now have these absolutely gorgeous garlic braids from Van Low Family Farm in our farm store along with their other garlic products! I love these garlic braids! They are a local family farm that grows A LOT of beautiful garlic and they make really delicious products with it. We love having them in our farm store 💖✨
