It's Astoria Regatta Week! Check out this Woodfield photo of the power cruiser "Sea Otter" in the Columbia River during the 1911 Astoria Regatta. Looks like the captain, Roderick Macleay from Portland, is waving his hat at us! In the background, you can see the Astoria waterfront between 8th and 10th Streets. The large ship docked on the right is the U.S. Engineer Dept. (U.S. Corps of Engineers) Seagoing Hopper Dredge Clatsop. George W. Sanborn's fish-packing warehouse is behind the Clatsop's bow, and the Parker Hotel is on Bond St. behind its stern. Going up the hill, you see the white Flavel House tower below the large McClure High School on 8th and Grand. Happy Regatta Week!

Saturday, August 8th from 11-6 Menagerie Co-Op presents Silhouettes of Memory from Emerging Phoenix Studios.

This Second Saturday Art Walk show is Inspired by Sarah Hammond’s experience with memory loss.

Silhouettes of Memory explores how memories change over time. The fluid movement represents the emotions of memory, while the silhouetted figures represent the people, places, and moments that remain long after the details have faded.

New artist to our Co-Op, Kristen Playford Kristen Playford draws inspiration from the wonder and beauty found in her garden, as well as from historic and ancient symbols and patterns.

Working in watercolor and acrylic, she brings these influences together through vibrant color, pattern, and layered imagery.
