Wuxtry’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is THIS SATURDAY May 2nd and what better way to get ready for the party than a quick flashback through history of the store… 🤩🕰️💫
Starting with Dan Wall, the leader of us all! Here he is under the sign of what was actually a second Athens location of the store on Baxter St. in the early 80s, but let’s go even further back in time to when Dan and Mark Methe opened Wuxtry’s very first location on Foundry Street in March of 1976…
Within 3 months of that opening though, Wuxtry quickly moved into the building that you all know now at the corner of College and Clayton! Keep swiping for peak at what it might have felt like to experience a midnight R.E.M. album release…Monster?…Automatic For The People?!
Also spot some familiar faces like John Fernandes of & , Mike Richmond of , Manfred Jones of , Curtiss Pernice of P**n Orchard, and many more!!…See past store managers Deb Wall & Dagmar holding things down with one of the legendary dawgs of the store Sausage, also seen riding in the Cadillac of the Dead Beat Club Music Video 🐶😉
“Wuxtry Comics” would open in the corner store as a separate entity at the end of 1989. “Bizarro-Wuxtry” occupied the upstairs space as of late spring 1991…Can you spot Devlin?!
Comment your favorite Wuxtry memory through the years, stay tuned for some more historical content, and see you all this Saturday at The 40 Watt with Reverend Conner Tribble, and to celebrate the big 5-0. 🥳🎂🪩📻
