Next Sunday, I'll be at in time for you all to do a little shopping and last minute Valentine's Day gift seeking.

You fear what you don't know.
My entire life I have been afraid of snakes. My only solace was as a city dweller, I would never have to see them in real life.
A dog and a lifestyle change later, I had a terrifying run in with a copperhead made WORSE by seeing a water snake shortly after.
Realizing that I would not be able to avoid them, I endeavored to understand them.
The West has a completely different view of snakes than the rest of the world and soon, I became enamored with the stories, legends, loas, patakis of snakes and their cosmic place.
Each of the earrings here are inspired by what I learned.

There's something truly special about having a place that is truly yours, whose every corner reflect your aesthetic.
The wall pieces I created wẹre designed for small spaces-like dorms and apartments- and for building up and diversifying gallery walls.
For example: my bigger art pieces are store bought so I used a plant and one of my own pieces to keep it unique.
Since August is moving time for so many in Athens, I'll be bringing some wall art back to the this Saturday
It's the perfect way to decorate that new space so it looks more YOU and less like the store display.

This may sound strange but one of my favourite things about the bolga and elephant/Savannah grass fans is the weavers' refusal to deliver multiples of the same thing, no matter how much you are willing to spend.
"What if that's not what you're called to make when you sit down? Then you'll be mad at us."
I think because I have often felt called to make something completely different than what I'm supposed to be making at the time, I truly understood it.
Art is better when the art, not expectations, gets to lead.
This felt like a reminder to stick to my promise earlier this year to treat myself less like a factory and make fewer of the same "popular" designs out of fear nobody will want the new stuff.
So here are two new fans: one from Burkina Faso and one from Ghana, where both weavers believe in the traditional method of using what's on hand and letting the pattern emerge. As a Geechee weaver once told me "the grass tells you what it wants to be."

Whenever I wear what I want, even before my pandemic weight gain, some woman has always called me "brave."
Imagine. Being considered brave for wearing and doing what you want on and with this one body you have.
I am not brave, I simply know what Toni Morrison said is to be believed, your life is already artful-- waiting for you to make it art.
I also know so many of us will never do so, waiting for someone else to give us permission or deem it respectable.
Wear the gold and the golds. Layer those rings and get the long manicure you really want.
Get the piercing, the tat, the gauge, the big earrings you love but your timid friend made you think they may be too much.
This body, this life is art. Are you really going to leave your canvas blank?
