On today's episode of farm life, let me introduce you to the farm version of Easter egg hunts in September. Our chickens have a run that is bigger than our house. It is about 1,200 square ft. Absolutely plenty of space for 57 chickens to roam and scratch for bugs. Because we have coyotes Hawks and a busy road in front of our house we can't let them free range unless we are outside to watch them otherwise they'll get run over or eaten.
Well I have two little stinkers that keep flying over the fence and getting out anyway. And I have wondered why my egg counts are getting a little bit low.
Then I'm moving a little bit of fencing materials today and I find this.
Don't worry these eggs are going in the trash because I have absolutely NO idea how long they've been there π΅βπ«
But now I figured out where the little Dum dums are going when they get out and I will be clearing the nest restacking this area and try to figure out how to keep the little stinkers in the run when we're not out here.
So if y'all ever thought farm life was boring, I can assure you it can become quite an adventure. Especially when you have random Easter egg hunts because chickens can't read a calendar πππ
