Indies First is a holiday coinciding with Small Business Saturday which celebrates the special relationship between independent bookstores, authors, and readers. It's a great day to kick off your holiday shopping, treat yourself after a busy family weekend, or just hang out with your fellow book lovers.

This year we welcome DJ GeeXella for a literary music party. Shop and vibe out with one of the hottest DJs in the city at Charis between 1-3 pm.

Today, November 20th, is Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), which was started in 1999 by transgender advocate Gwendolyn Ann Smith as a vigil to honor the memory of Rita Hester, a transgender woman who was killed in 1998. has grown into an annual day to reflect on anti-trans violence and bigotry and to honor those who lost their lives in the last year.
We remember. We recommit to preventing anti-trans violence and investing in trans and GNC thriving. Keep loving, keep fighting.
This piece “We Keep Each Other Safe” was designed in 2018 in collaboration with The TGI Justice Project by .khadar They/Them), a Sierra Leonean-American artist, designer, and educator primarily working through poetry, fiber art, and digital art. These mediums guide their conceptual explorations into gender theory, Black diasporic ecologies, aesthetic politics, and ancestral practices.
