For today’s Q***r Nerd Pride history post, this one is dedicated to the q***rdos.
The weirdos. The loud ones. The soft ones. The leather folks, trans girls, drag queens, butches, femmes, s*x workers, street kids, nerds, outcasts, and every beautiful q***r who was told they were too much, too strange, too visible, too impossible.
Last night, on a Saturday bleeding into Sunday morning, I was at Eagle thinking about Stonewall. About Marsha P. Johnson. About our ancestors who refused to disappear.
And here in Atlanta, I couldn’t help but think about the 2009 Eagle raid too. How far we’ve come, and how quickly history reminds us there is still so much left to fight for.
Pride was never just a party. It was a refusal. A riot. A flame passed hand to hand by people who risked everything so we could dance, love, mourn, survive, and exist out loud.
We keep that flame lit for Marsha. For Stonewall. For Eagle. For the ones we lost. For the q***rdos who came before us, and the q***rdos still finding their way home.
Happy Pride. Stay weird. Stay loud. Keep burning. 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️
