The music world is mourning the loss of one of their own. Founding member of Parliament-Funkadelic, Clarence ‘Fuzzy’ Haskins, has died, this according to the band’s official page.

A true pioneer of funk and R&B, ‘Fuzzy’s’ roots stretch back to the days of Doo-Wop. Teaming up with buddies, George, Grady, Ray and Calvin - he cofounded The Parliaments. As Doo-Wop began to dissipate, the group started to gain new inspiration from acts like The Beatles and Sly & the Family Stone. These influences helped shape their new, fresher, funkier sound and led the the transition to Parliament Funkadelic.

During the 70s, their experimental sound set them apart from the rest and led to the creation of songs such as; “Up For The Down Stroke,” “Chocolate City,” “Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On,” “P. Funk (Wants To Get Funked Up),” “Tear The Roof Off The Sucker (Give Up The Funk),” “Mothership Connection (Star Child),” “Undisco Kidd,” “Do That Stuff” and “Dr. Funkenstein.”

Fuzzy departed to pursue a solo career during the mid-70s, but resurfaced with a reworked version of Parliament Funk, in the 80s, which featured the founding members of the act, which adopted the moniker, The Original P.

Among his many accolades, is an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Fuzzy was 81 years old, at the time of his passing. His memory will live on through his music.
