The water beads look like precious jewels nestled in these nasturtium leaves. 💎💧This heirloom variety, ‘Empress of India’, has been grown in the United States since the 1890s. Their lily pad shaped leaves are edible and have a peppery flavor, similar to arugula. Soon, these nasturtiums will form beautiful crimson flowers that are also edible!

Pop by my booth at the Historic Cascade Farmers Market this Sunday and ask me about the cool flower installation I plan to do with these beauties! 😍

Here’s one of my absolute favorite plants to grow: coleus! They’re not edible like many of my other plant offerings, but they’re so beautiful, easy to care for, they thrive in shady spots, and make excellent houseplants. I recognize that not everyone has an outdoor space to grow plants, so if that’s you, I recommend giving coleus a place to grow in your home. It’s a lovely way to bring the beauty of nature indoors. 🪴

This morning I felt called to put my hands in the soil and plant seeds in honor of my ancestors. These plants have deep significance among Black people across the diaspora, providing nourishment and healing when they were systematically deprived of it (and continue to be). My ancestors carried these seeds with them during their forced removal from Africa, preserving their heritage and believing in their survival on unknown land.

I’m so full of gratitude from my time at Atlanta Plant Fest last weekend. Shoutout to Pink Pothos for organizing such an incredible event. I was surrounded by my favorite type of people: PLANT PEOPLE! 💚

Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by my booth with questions, smiles, and interest in what I’m growing. Your support means a lot to me! I hope to connect with new & familiar faces at future pop-ups. I’ll share that information here and in my monthly newsletter (link below). 🌻
