The Future of Orthodontics Is 3D Printed.

Traditional impressions have long been an important part of orthodontic care and remain a reliable option for many practices. But as digital technology continues to advance, 3D printing is becoming an increasingly efficient and precise way to produce orthodontic appliances.

At Specialty Appliances, we’re embracing that technology with our LuxCreo, HeyGears, and Carbon 3D printers.

What goes into planning precise TAD placement for a MARPE case?

In a recent Atlas Forum session, Specialty Appliances’ Shane Jordan shared how we use advanced Nemotec software to analyze CBCT scans and evaluate the patient’s anatomy when planning TAD screw placement.

We look at factors like screw length and location, then provide doctors with CBCT views showing the planned placement. And when a case brings up questions or concerns, we can connect with the doctor live to review it together.

The Atlas Forum Spotlight: Breaking Down the MARPE Treatment Planning Process

In this Atlas Forum session, our very own Shane Jordan walks through how the team at Specialty Appliances analyzes incoming MARPE cases, develops a customized treatment presentation, and collaborates with orthodontists before fabrication begins.

Shane presented a detailed treatment chart outlining TAD placement, length and measurements, root proximities, insertion angularities, and bone engagement providing the clinical information needed to plan with confidence.

Boot Camp, Day Two ✅

Talk about a full-circle moment. Today our residents fabricated a Hawley retainer from start to finish, all on their own!

OK our resident expert, Arlen Hurt, might’ve assisted a tiiiiiny bit. But these girls deserve all the credit for hanging in there and seeing it through.

Wire bending, acrylic, finishing… they did it all.

There’s nothing quite like watching residents go from learning the fundamentals to actually fabricating a complete appliance with their own hands. And in just 2 days!

That’s what our Boot Camps are all about; real skills, real practice, real confidence.

Proud of this crew and excited to see what they do next!
