Sweetie and I had an Impromtu Garage Photo Shoot yesterday. I grew up with pets; but having pets at my house when I was a child is not the same way my children experienced pets. In my childhood home pets lived outside. LOL. My children's pets lived in our home, but they were my children's pets. Now come this little whitel puff of hair. My pet. LOL!! and she's just a babeeeee!!!

When you learn early to protect yourself, you get real comfortable handling everything yourself. Not because you don’t need help, but because asking for it, accepting it, or even letting somebody know you need it doesn’t come easy.

Sometimes you learned early that speaking up didn’t change anything. Or you were scared to speak up at all. So you learned to just figure it out yourself.

Then you grow up and that same little survival skill is still right there. Except now you’re an adult, stressed like a mug, doing stuff by yourself that you really don’t have to do by yourself. 😂

I wonder how many of us are still doing this and didn’t even realize where it came from.

One thing I’m finally accepting in this season of life is that connection comes in all kinds of forms. 💛

Sometimes it’s the friend you’ve known forever. Sometimes it’s family. And sometimes it’s the person you see every day who just makes the day a little better. 🫶🏾

My co-worker, who started two weeks before me, gave notice today. And although we wouldn’t classify one another as besties or BFFs, I know her leaving is going to leave a void in my day. 😔

We don’t hang out on the weekends or talk all the time outside of work, but I enjoy her. I’m used to her being there.

And I think that’s the part I’m learning. Every connection doesn’t have to be deep or lifelong to still matter. ✨
