Floating micro displays are meant to stop traffic flow and highlight products. The imprint is meant to be small and tight. By hanging small floral bouquets at eye level it helped keep my imprint small and kept the focus at eye level.

Your “uppers” are the most underutilized space in your store. Uppers are the tops of cabinets and shelving. They too high to sell product from so often they go neglected. They end up being a last minute thought, random items tossed up only to catch dust. These underutilized spaces are your opportunity to story tell and set the stage for what’s below on the shelving.
Walk around your store, look at your uppers and ask, what are they telling your customers?

Cross merchandising apparel and gifts is something I’ve been doing since my days at Anthro. I talk a lot about storytelling and honesty, this is my favorite way to story tell. Something about how the 2 compliment each other, how it breaks up hard goods and softens a space.
