๐๐ Help Us Give the Gift of Reading This Christmas! ๐๐
The BES Library is working on a very special Christmas project, and we would love the help of our amazing community!
Our goal is to collect enough gently used, hardback picture books for every student at Brighton Elementary, Pre-K through 5th grade, to receive a book of their very own for Christmas. ๐๐
We are hoping to collect gently used hardback picture books that are still in good condition and would be exciting for a child to receive. Since students will be opening their books and reading them during a special classroom activity, we are specifically looking for picture books rather than chapter books. We would also appreciate hardback books rather than paperbacks whenever possible.
Our plan is to wrap each book and give students a โblind date with a bookโ experience. Students will open a wrapped book without knowing what is inside and then get to enjoy reading their surprise book during the lesson.
Because our students range from Pre-K all the way through 5th grade, we would love to have a wide variety of picture books at different reading levels, ages, themes, and interests. A picture book that is perfect for a kindergartener may be very different from one that catches the attention of a fifth grader, so variety will be especially helpful!
If you have a collection of gently used hardback picture books at home that your family has outgrown, we would be incredibly grateful if you would consider donating them to BES. Some of those books that have been loved in your home could become a very special Christmas gift for one of our students. ๐๐
Books can be sent to Brighton Elementary School and directed to the BES Library.
Thank you so much for helping us make this project possible! And please feel free to share this post with friends, family, and anyone who may have some well-loved childrenโs books looking for a new home. โค๏ธ๐๐
ETA: We would also happily accept wrapping paper donations as well! ๐
