The Midnight Poultry Connection
​It was 9 PM on a Thursday. Pitch black. We pulled the F250 into the park, and there she was—a black SUV, engine running, waiting in the shadows. The setup was perfect for something entirely different than what actually went down.
​Jay looked over, keeping his eyes on the target. "You got the cash? You want me to come with you?"
​I patted my pocket. "I’ve got the cash. I’ve got this."
​I climbed out of the truck and walked slow, cool, and collected toward her driver-side window. Tension was high. She didn't say a word, just slid the window down and gave a knowing nod. She cracked open the box, showed me the goods—two tiny, peeping olive egger chicks—and handed over the package containing the chicks and three dozen fresh eggs.
​I walked back to the truck like I was walking away from a high-stakes deal, and we peeled out of there.
​If anyone saw us, they definitely thought we were up to no good. But nope—just two people living the extreme poultry-dealer dream. My homestead life is officially out of control, and I’m not even mad about it. 🐥🥚

​Just wanted to share a quick snap of our two-week-old tweety birds! They’re growing so fast and starting to show some big personalities.
​We’re looking for some name ideas for these little bundles! If anyone has any good ones—funny, sweet, or just plain cute—we’re open to suggestions!
We’re already leaning towards Mabel for one of
them and Opal for a white one not shown. We need a few more names to round out the crew! What do you think? Drop them in the comments below!
