🚨πŸ”₯ ALABAMA V***R TAX ALERT – LAST CHANCE TO FIX THIS πŸ”₯🚨

Today, our advocates are traveling to the Alabama State House to continue working toward a fix to the v***r tax before it takes effect.

πŸ“… October 1 is coming fast.
⏳ And the legislative session is quickly coming to a close.

Once session adjourns, there will be no opportunity to adjust this policy before the tax goes into effect. The window to correct it is now.

Beginning October 1, Alabama will enforce a $0.10 PER MILLILITER excise tax on v***r products β€” on top of existing state and local sales taxes.

⚠️ In cities that passed local v**e taxes early, consumers will soon face DOUBLE taxation.

Here’s what lawmakers must understand:

πŸ’§ The tax is based on liquid volume β€” NOT ni****ne strength.
⬇️ Adults using lower ni****ne levels often purchase larger bottles β€” meaning they will pay the highest effective tax rates.
🚬 Alabama ci******es carry a $0.675 per pack state tax, yet moderate v***r consumers could pay significantly more under this structure.
πŸ“‰ In a tough economy, this tax may push adults toward higher ni****ne concentrations to offset costs β€” or back to combustible ci******es.

This affects:
βœ” Adult harm-reduction consumers
βœ” Fixed-income residents
βœ” Responsible Alabama small businesses
βœ” Cities now facing stacked local + state taxes

Call. Email. Be respectful β€” but be clear.
Ask them to support a fix before session ends.

πŸ—£οΈ October 1 is approaching.
πŸ—“οΈ The clock on session is ticking.
Now is the time.

🚨 AHVA MEMBERS β€” TAKE ACTION TODAY 🚨

Today, our team is traveling to Montgomery to continue critical conversations on v**e and h**p regulation reform to protect small businesses and preserve consumer choice. We need your voice reinforcing those discussions right now.

πŸ‘‰ Please contact your House and Senate representatives TODAY and share:
β€’ How current regulations have impacted your small business or access to products you rely on
β€’ Why the upcoming v**e tax (or existing local tax) will be the final regulatory burden forcing more Alabama businesses to close
β€’ That Alabama still has little to no access to h**p products due to licensing red tape and a broken licensing structure requiring businesses to completely change their models just to stay compliant

Today, AHVA is back at the Alabama State House.

Our advocates are meeting face-to-face with legislators to discuss h**p and v**e regulations and the very real impact of the laws passed in 2025. As we head into these conversations, we’re asking for traveling grace for everyone making the trip from their home districts to stand up for this industry and the people behind it.

But this work doesn’t stop at the State House.

We need every member engaged today:
πŸ“ž Call your local legislators
πŸ“§ Email their offices
πŸ—£οΈ Engage and share your experience

Tell them your story.

Explain how h**p and v**e products have:
β€’ Helped you quit or stay away from ci******es
β€’ Supported your small business or employees
β€’ Improved your health, finances, or daily life
β€’ Provided safer alternatives and stability

These laws aren’t just policy on paper β€” they affect real people, real families, and real livelihoods across Alabama. Legislators need to hear directly from those impacted by the 2025 regulations.

AHVA will be at the table today β€” but it takes all of us to make our voices heard.

🚨 AHVA Update: We’re Leading the Fight to Save H**p in Alabama! 🚨

A few days ago, we shared that AHVA would not lead litigation over the h**p bill. However, after extensive discussions with industry professionals and colleagues, and in response to an unwavering call for support from our community, we’ve reassessed and firmly believe that we are best positioned to head up this critical battle for our industry and community. πŸ’ͺ🌱

We are now accepting donations to fuel our litigation fund. Our goal is to raise $150,000 by Monday, enabling us to hire legal representation and file necessary actions before July 1st. These funds will be used exclusively for h**p litigation.

Important Information for Donors:
β€’ Donations from consumers are not tax-deductible.
β€’ Businesses can write off donations as business expenses, but not as charitable contributions.

Every dollar brings us closer to protecting the future of h**p in Alabama. We need YOU to stand with us. Who’s ready to help us save h**p in Alabama? πŸ™Œ

Make Your Voice Heard: Join AHVA’s Advocacy Day

As you enjoy your weekend or prepare for the week ahead, don’t forget to plan for AHVA’s Advocacy Day at the Alabama State House on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 9 AM to 3 PM.

The stakes couldn’t be higher. Our industry faces the potential loss of all smokeable products, leaving only edible products and drinks capped at 5mg per serving. On top of that, legislators want to impose a hefty tax, leaving consumers with weaker products that are more expensive.

Advocacy Day is your chance to meet directly with your local legislators and share how these changes would impact you and others in our community. This is a crucial opportunity to stand up for the products we rely on and ensure our voices are heard.

If we don’t show up and speak out, these changes could become a reality. Let’s come together, advocate for fair regulations, and protect access to these essential products.

See you at the State House on Tuesday!
