In today's Dungeons and Dragons session, our party ventured to the boiling swamp known as the Burnmarsh to help research the native creatures...
Our adventure started when our party met the halfling wanderer Kilyan Keelmath to discuss the quest. He warned them of the dangers of the rodellion, a large predatory mud-dwelling worm that he wished to research. After a rather mean conversation in which both his living space and job were insulted several times, the party set off into the Burnmarsh. The sun began to set as they spotted movement in the tall grass in the distance. It was indeed a rodellion, and our adventurers ambushed it with a clever pass without trace and a well placed hunter's mark. It put up quite the fight, thrashing about and using its sawblade-like mouth to gore the party. It fell before long, and as our heroes were hauling it back, they noticed they were being followed. Three dwarves approached, saying that they needed help and that they would buy the creature's co**se off of them to use its blood to cure a contagion affecting their brethren. The party was hesitant at first (and rude again, they have a bit of a charisma problem), but after our druid channeled the will of their god, they agreed to help the dwarves. Traveling to their mobile home, a crawling construct, they saw many dwarves ailed with a strange and magical contagion. Our ranger discovered that it was interplanar, and something quite unnatural. After finding a strange ooze in various places on the ship, our adventurers expiremented with it a little, finding that it did not adhere to the laws of this world. It seemed to grow more of itself when stretched and ate all natural matter that touched it, making it quite the confusing case. After deciding that it was dangerous and they should leave it alone, they departed from the dwarves after recieving some magic items as thanks. They captured another rodellion, brought it back to Kilyan, and recieved their gold for a job well done.
