Yesterday's 9/11 ceremony was a huge success. Thank you to all those who attended and made the event possible. Your continued support of Local 1650 and the Honor Guard is greatly appreciated. Several members of the Honor Guard also attended the town of Vassalboro, ME Patriots Day parade. You all represented Augusta Maine Fire-Rescue and the City of Augusta with pride!

A reminder that our 25th Anniversary Ceremony of 9/11 will be held this Friday at 0930 at the Firefighters Memorial in Augusta.

IAFF Local 1650 encourages all area fire departments and law enforcement agencies to join us as we come together to honor and remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

All public safety members and members of the community are welcome to attend.

Class A uniforms / formal attire requested.

We hope to see you there as we honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice and ensure we Never Forget.

IAFF Local 1650, in partnership with the Augusta Fire Honor Guard, invites members of the public, public safety community, veterans, and any of those wishing to attend to join us in remembering the events of September 11, 2001.

Please join us as we honor the 2,977 lives lost, including firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency personnel, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice that day.

This ceremony is an opportunity for our community to come together, remember the lives lost, recognize the courage and sacrifice of our nation’s first responders, and ensure that the events of September 11, 2001, are never forgotten.

Congratulations Brother Marshall on your appointment as Fire Chief to the City of Hallowell. We know you will do great things there and that the Hallowell Fire Department will continue to grow and excel under your leadership!

The Hallowell Fire Department would like to announce our new Fire Chief, Theodore Marshall.

Chief Marshall began his firefighting career as a volunteer in 2011, while he was still active duty in the United States Marine Corps. After his honorable discharge in 2013, he transitioned to a full-time firefighter-paramedic in Havelock, North Carolina. It was there that he met his wife, who was a dispatcher at the time.

After moving back to his home state of Maine, he joined the Augusta Fire Department in 2015. In addition to his years of experience in the fire service, he has also deployed multiple times with the Maine Forest Service as a Wildland Firefighter to assist other states as well as Canada.

He and his wife have two children and a Great Pyranees named Woof Woof the Rockstar.

Chief Marshall is honored to lead the Hallowell Fire Department and looks forward to serving our town and its residents.

Welcome home Brother Marshall! FF/Paramedic Marshall is currently traveling home after being part of a 19 person crew from Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and, Rhode Island, that went to Val-d’or Quebec to assist with a 4,000 hectare fire. Thank you for using your own vacation time to go and assist our neighbors to the north.

🎉👶 A very special congratulations to Brother Wilder and his wife, Emily! 👶🎉

Local 1650 is excited to share the news of the newest edition to the Wilder family. Violet June Wilder was born on June 24th at 5:07am., making her the 3rd daughter in the Wilder household.

Congratulations, Dave & Emily on the birth of your beautiful baby girl. We all wish you a lifetime of great memories and laughter.

And Dave... three daughters? Good luck—you’re definitely going to need it!

When a member of 1650 retires we normally present them with a ceremonial axe in honor and thanks for their years of service. Chief Dunbar asked that Local 1650 make a donation to the Augusta Food Bank instead of an axe. Thank you Chief for your many years of service and your generosity.

Today, Battalion Chief Dunbar, Augusta Uniformed Firefighters, IAFF Local 1650 President Giroux and Treasurer Nepple presented a donation to the Bread of Life Soup Kitchen in honor of Chief Dunbar's retirement.

Thank you, Chief Dunbar, for your years of dedicated service and for always putting our community first. We hope you are enjoying your retirement.

IAFF Local 1650 is saddened to learn of the passing of Searsmont Assistant Chief Wayne Woodbury. AC Woodbury was injured while responding to the Robbins Lumber Fire in Searsmont and has been admitted at Maine Medical Center in Portland since the incident.

Local 1650 extends our sincere condolences to AC Woodburys family, friends, and colleagues.
