Amatenango pottery might be a lesser known type of Mexican pottery, it comes from the community of Amatenango del Valle in Chiapas, Mexico. This is a craft mostly done by the women of the community. It is completely made from scratch. Artisans gather clay directly from the ground by hand, then they mold and paint the figures to create amazing pieces mostly consisting of jaguars and birds. This pottery does not get glazed so it keeps a more rustic and natural feeling. Don't hesitate to add one of these beauties to your home!
