MAY 1ST - ACCEPTING DONATIONS!

Hey Bikers! Ricketts Bike Rack will be officially open for donations on May 1st! Because of the groups and missions that we work with this year, we need bikes to be in decent working order - we can always air up tires. But if it needs multiple new parts or labor sadly we will have to pass on them until some of our bike shop partners open up their businesses. When in doubt, snap a pic and send it to us!

Plainfield based - near the library. Message and we can arrange pickups or drop offs.

Will you SHARE this status to get the word out? Happy Easter to all of you

PLAINFIELD, Ind. - On Friday, April 1st, the Town of Plainfield’s Parks and Recreation Department will re-launch their bike share program. The bike share program will increase access and encourage use of the town’s trail and path systems. The department launched its first bike share program in 2019; the program was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With the relaunch, the bike share program will offer two new station location for riders.

“When our previous bike share program got sidelined due to the pandemic, we looked at ways to get this program back off the ground,” said Andrew Klinger, Town of Plainfield Town Manager. “It was an easy decision to invest in bringing this program back to the trails in Plainfield.”

The program will give town residents and visitors easier ways to explore Plainfield’s nearly 35 miles of trails. The Pedal with Plainfield bike share program will provide 30 bikes and six docking stations. The Plainfield docks will be located at:

• Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center
• Hummel Park
• Friendship Gardens
• Franklin Park
• Swinford Park
• Bicentennial Plaza

“Back in 2019, the plan was always to expand this program in terms of docking stations and the number of bikes circulating on the trails,” said Klinger. “I am proud of our Town Council and the staff who saw this as an opportunity to not only relaunch but to increase the footprint of Hendricks County’s only bike share program.”

Bikesharing provides an opportunity for users to be physically active by providing a network of bicycles and stations that serve and connect key destinations across a region, providing short-term bicycle rentals to those that may not otherwise have access to one. Riders of the Pedal with Plainfield bike share program have the opportunity to rent a bike for free the first 30 minutes and will be charged $2 for each additional hour. Riders also have the opportunity to pay a membership subscription rate. The bikes can be rented through the “Koloni Travel” smartphone applications, available through all app stores.

Officer Knowles, we wish you many, many miles of bicycling in your retirement!

Today we say so long, and congratulations to a legend at PPD. Sergeant Todd Knowles retires from our agency today after serving 26 faithful years to our agency and our Town of Plainfield. Knowles most recently served as the School Resource Officer unit supervisor and also has taught DARE for several years having a positive impact on hundreds of children in the Plainfield Community School Corporation.

Sergeant Knowles also served in many other capacities over the years including patrol officer, ERT member, detective, narcotics investigator, bike patrol, crime watch coordinator, and others. He is a valued member of our agency and we are forever thankful for his service. Enjoy retirement Todd, you have earned it! We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

AMAZING VINTAGE BICYCLE STORE in Aurora, Indiana!!!

Amazingly beautiful vintage bikes for purchase or viewing. Great staff - there was so much to see. Frank and Carole are coming back next week to purchase a yellow tandem, like Rev used to have.
