We’re still in the earliest days of this. Year 4–a season when the main goal is to keep going.

The shout out from readers of serves to keep some oxygen on the flame that powers our little engine, so thanks for that.

Whether you’ve been by the store, come by a pop-up where we played records, grabbed somewhere in town, or stopped to get a cappuccino at the coffee truck in , we hope we were good to you when we met.

Making a brand like ours is really built on the experience. The product really isn’t shirts, pants, or coffee. It’s the time we spend together. Thanks for hanging out with us. Please tell a friend.

Do you have a favorite pair of pants? I have three. It’s really all I need from season to season. Not the same three all year. Three pair per season. Here’s my logic.

Considering that we have a Menswear shop, that may seem a bit controversial. The truth is that I find myself reaching into the closet and grabbing one of the same three pants, depending on which shirt I’m into. A lot of shirts. Only a few pants.

In the summer:

There’s the Japanese Twill from seen in this image with a cotton shirt from their summer collection. I wear chambray, linen, t-shirts, and push the sleeves up on a work shirt over these pants.

There’s my pale pink chino that you see in this feed from time to time. Graphic tee or an Ola Shirt in almost any color way (I’ve mentioned the new neutrals here before. That pant is one.)

Okay, maybe there’s four depending on the weather. My 1985 501 if the heat allows or my Alex Crane drawstring bo pant with any shirt I own on a more typical day.

Even as you see the paste ups and spray paint on the power box behind me, you can see the shirt colors that might work with the pants. Am I right?

We want to sell pants, but bring your favorite. We have a shirt for you 🙂

Am I Dad cool, yet?

If you grew up in my generation, you probably thought your Dad was alright. A little uptight, but it wasn’t his job to be “outta sight.”

Dad was showing how it was. He was living the best he knew how. If yours was a little like my Dad, he was handy. He worked too hard and long, but the flash of the sun off his car windshield and through the living room window meant the day was wrapping up.

Dinner waited for him.

With a little light left on a summer evening, there might be a catch in the shade of side yard or a walk through his garden.

With the cool winter night, we might hear guitar music from the back of the house. An open door to join in or run the tape machine.

It’s cooler now than it seemed then.

Then it was just Dad doing Dad things. It was only later that we learned it was a certain cool.

Not putting on for anybody. Available for anyone.

Dad’s still just a phone call away. Thank God. The cool, however, is still just a little outside my reach.

Happy Father’s Day, Dads. You’re cooler than you know. Give us time. We’ll figure it out.

The barber on our block asked me to wear one of her hats to our pop up this weekend. I seldom wear brand merch, not even our own, but I believe if you want fans, be a fan. The rest of the outfit was built around the cap. Funny thing happened. People noticed. They shopped the ability to put a unique vibe into the universe and bought some of our summer pieces. Be a fan. Not because you might make some, but it doesn’t hurt to start somewhere 🙂 Brother Friend

Sunny and I headed out for a walk on this first Friday of the year.

The sun was shining, and a light breeze blew from the west/northwest.

"Hey, buddy," I said to the dog. "Should I grab a jacket?"

I know it looks nice out, but hold that thought for just a moment.

My brother had just sent a text from our hometown. It included a picture. In it, the sky was full of flurries, and his lawn was pulling a nice snowy blanket up to the curb.

Okay, back to our walk.

Should I grab a jacket? Depends.

In my mind's eye, Sunny and I were in my brother's text. In reality, we were in Austin, where winter is a couple of ugly days sometime in February.

Jacket? Maybe. Coat? Nah. We opted for neither.

He loved the walk. Me, too.

We stock things to layer. Shirt jackets, cozy sweatshirts, lightweight sweaters. But coats? We're not living in my brother's text.
