Who doesn’t love a binding reveal tape pull?

Double-bound in black, this Broadwing is pure understated class. There’s something about that crisp line emerging from under the tape—the moment the silhouette finally snaps into focus.

A little careful scraping to bring every edge up clean, then it’s back into the booth for the clear coats. The details are quiet. The ex*****on isn’t.

There’s something about a Butterscotch Blackguard that just feels right.

This Buteo pairs a lightweight Paulownia body with a figured one-piece maple neck and a lacquered Bakelite guard, all wrapped in an aged nitro finish that gives it the look and feel of a guitar with some history behind it.

Just over 5 lbs and ready to leave the shop.

A little shop-made tooling goes a long way. This in-house jig lets us quickly and accurately cut binding strips to the exact height needed for each channel. Fully adjustable with a dial gauge for precise setup—quick, clean, and repeatable.

The difference is in the details.

A few of the countless steps that turn a piece of wood into a Doubleday—hand-carved body contours, precision fretting and board prep, signature branding, meticulous finish work, and routing the roundovers that define the silhouette.

Every surface, edge, fret, and finish is considered. Nothing is left to chance. This is the level of craftsmanship that lives underneath the final coat of lacquer—and the reason our guitars feel as special as they look.

A little more of the process behind our Ebony position marker dots. We don’t use plastic—these are made from real Ebony, cut from scrap fretboard material and finished in-house.

We’re also maximizing our yield based on the width of the plug cutter taper, carefully laying out each cut to get the most usable dots possible while avoiding any cracks in the stock. This particular piece came from a fretboard that didn’t make the cut because of cracks in the wood. Rather than throw it away, we found another use for it.

Apparently, reusing scrap wood is controversial. 😂 A lot of people thought this was wasteful the last time we showed the process.

The last video of this little detail got almost 4 million views, which is pretty incredible considering how small a part of the guitar-building process it is. But that’s what we love about building guitars—the details matter.

This is how we make our Ebony position marker dots. No plastic here—just real Ebony, carefully cut and finished by hand.

The last time we showed this little part of the process, the video somehow hit almost 4 million views. Which is incredibly cool… but also kind of hilarious that one of the smallest details of building a guitar got more attention than everything else we do. 😂
