Apparently owning a boutique isn’t my only expensive hobby. 😂

Meet Ellie: part-time boutique supervisor, full-time high-maintenance princess, and currently working on her THIRD vet bill of the month. 👑🐾

When I’m not boutique-ing, creating content, unpacking inventory or figuring out what Tina and I are doing next… apparently I’m funding this girl’s lifestyle.

So yes, when you shop small at Dirt Road Dolls, you’re supporting a family-owned business.

You’re also, indirectly, supporting Ellie’s commitment to keeping our veterinarian in business. 😂

And as you can see, she is exhausted from all her financial contributions.

Most days you see us talking clothes, jewelry, new arrivals, vendor markets, website updates, packing orders, and all the other chaos that comes with running Dirt Road Dolls Boutique.

But before there was a boutique, there were just two sisters doing life together.

We’ve laughed until we couldn’t breathe, gotten on each other’s nerves, taken a whole lot of road trips, made plenty of questionable decisions, survived hard seasons, celebrated the good ones, and collected a whole lot of stories along the way.

Now somehow we also run a business together. 😂

Dirt Road Dolls is a huge part of our lives, but it isn’t our whole life — and I think that’s part of what makes this little business what it is. There are real people behind the product pictures and social media posts. Two sisters with families, responsibilities, inside jokes, different personalities, and a shared dream we’re figuring out as we go.

So here’s a little glimpse of the Dolls when we’re not “the Dolls.”

Just Jen & Tina. Sisters first. Business partners somewhere after that. And depending on the day, possibly each other’s bad influence. 😂

Tomorrow night on Closet Chat, we’re talking about the pieces that earn their space — the ones you can style different ways, reach for over and over, and still love long after the “new” wears off.

I’ve got Mabel and Millie getting two very different looks, a little jewelry to change things up, and I’m bringing my own evidence to the conversation.

Running a boutique takes sacrifice.

Sometimes that sacrifice is trying on all the new statement rings and hoping one gets stuck so I can explain why it never made it to inventory.
