Matt Telfer and Tony Walsh built The Musicians Woodshed to fulfill their dream of having a truly unique guitar store that was as much an experience as it was a place to learn or shop. We offer private lessons in guitar, piano, drums, bass, vocals, ukulele, brass/woodwinds in addition to orchestral instruments! Our Lesson Plans are peer-to-peer curriculum, that's personally customized to suit each student's aptitude, interests and learning pace. One of our favorite things about teaching music? Watching a student go from “I don’t know if I can do this…” to “Hey, check this out!” 😎

Learning an instrument takes patience, practice, and a whole lot of trying again. But somewhere along the way, students start realizing they can learn that tricky song. They can play in front of other people. They can walk into a room and feel like they belong there.

And that confidence? It doesn’t always stay on the stage. ❤️

At The Musicians Woodshed Lake Travis, our staff isn’t just passionate about music—they’re musicians, performers, creatives, and music professionals who bring their experience into everything they do.

Jett Boyd is a perfect example. When he’s not performing his own original music, you can find him behind our retail counter or working in our in-house guitar repair studio, WolfCreek Guitars. From creating music to helping musicians find the right gear or keeping their favorite guitar in great shape, Jett brings creativity and knowledge to every part of the Woodshed. 🎶

Our Step Onstage Rockstar bands are made up of musicians who are building their skills both in the lesson room and on the stage! Many of our band members also take private music lessons at The Musicians Woodshed, giving them dedicated time with their teachers to finely hone their technique, musicianship, and artistic talents.

Then they bring those skills into their Step Onstage rehearsals, where they learn to listen, collaborate, perform as a team, and find their sound together. 🎶

That combination of private music lessons + real band experience + live performance opportunities helps our students grow not only as musicians, but as confident performers.

A ukulele on a rock stage? Absolutely! 🤘 This Step Onstage Rockstar student brought their ukulele to the spotlight and showed us that there’s a place for every instrument in the band!

Our Step Onstage Rockstar program gives young musicians the chance to rehearse, collaborate, build confidence, and experience what it’s really like to be in a band. Over 10 weeks, students work together toward two live performances at the end of the program!

And guess what? Fall rehearsals start THIS WEEK! 🎤🥁🎸

We’re so excited to watch our newest bands come together, find their sound, and get ready to take the stage!

After 10 weeks of rehearsals, collaboration, and serious hard work, our Step Onstage Rockstar bands are ready to take the stage! Join us as students from Northwest School of Music and The Musicians Woodshed (North Parmer & Lake Travis) come together for TWO incredible performances.

One of the things that makes The Musicians Woodshed Lake Travis special is our incredible team of **professional musicians and educators**. Our teachers bring their real-world performance experience, musicianship, and passion for music into the lesson room every day.

At our Back to the Woodshed event, we got to see one of our talented teachers step out from behind the lesson room and onto the stage! Moments like this remind us that our students are learning from musicians who are actively creating, performing, and sharing their love of music. 🤘
