Three new arrivals this week, and three completely different ideas of what a guitar rooted in the Spanish tradition can be.
As always, our email subscribers see these first. Comment “Yes” for a direct link to our recent arrivals.
🇪🇸 Antonio Marín Montero 2014: The Bouchet model from the Granada master, born there in 1933 and come to the guitar through cabinetmaking. Spruce over Brazilian rosewood with a sapwood center, five fan bracing, Pagos tuners, and a signed Granada label. Spanish music simply sings on this guitar, and at twelve years old it presents far younger than its years.
🇮🇹 Luigi Locatto 2011 “Garcia”, No. 230: One of the most respected Italian luthiers and restorationists working today, and his output is intentionally small, so finding one on the market is genuinely uncommon. Spruce over stunning Brazilian rosewood with a rippled, wavy figure down the center, seven fan bracing on extremely lightweight braces, and a rosette taken straight from Enrique Garcia’s earlier instruments. The first chord tells you everything. Notes fly off the string with surprising speed and clarity, and the whole character is spacious and refined, with a lyrical quality that suits Spanish repertoire beautifully.
🇫🇷 Jeremie Geffroy 2026: Our first guitar from Geffroy, who builds in Brittany in the northwest of France. A radial braced cedar top in the Simon Marty manner over Madagascar rosewood, raised ebony fingerboard, integrated ebony armrest, French polish. Fundamental forward and honest, with a deep bass and a genuinely powerful fourth string, and an air resonance sitting just below F, which is unusually low for a radial braced guitar. The headstock carries an inlay honoring Daniel Friederich.
