Many have gone before me and many will go after, but it is now my turn to sing the praises of Sulky of America Stick ‘n Stich.
I use Stick ‘n Stitch to transfer patterns I purchase or design myself in Canva to the fabric I’m going to stitch. It glides through my home printer like a dream and is just sticky enough to adhere to my project without restricting the weave of my fabric.
My favorite part, though, of using Sulky Stick ‘n Stitch is dissolving it. I’ve tried a few methods to dissolve, as I am impatient by nature, and this bowl and hand-agitate method is the best I’ve found. It combines the movement of direct running water with the gentleness of a longer soak.
While running your piece directly under running water is quick, the force of the water unsettles more sensitive stitches like wagon wheels. Just leaving the piece to soak, in my experience, increases the chance a bit of the Stick ‘n Stitch will…stick around…nestled half under less full coverage stitches like lazy daisies.
You can do the soak directly in your sink, if it’s clean enough. Mine is decidedly a working sink and is usually home to at a least a couple pots or dishes doing their own soak, so I use a clean mixing bowl.
(The little arm that comes in right at the end belongs to my youngest. Both dudes were underfoot while I was dissolving this and the youngest just had to help.)
