We’re so sorry to share that, due to a medical emergency, we need to cancel our upcoming Quilt Painting Class on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. We have requested that EventBrite refund money.

Our instructor needs some time to recover, and while we’re disappointed that we can’t gather together as planned, we’re hopeful that we’ll be able to offer this special class again once she is stronger.

Thank you so much for your understanding, kindness, and continued support of our small business. We truly appreciate each and every one of you and hope we’ll have the opportunity to create, connect, and care together again soon. 💛

With gratitude,
Shawn Pence

It's a great day!
After 16 days in hospital- 13 in intensive care and 3 in progressive care, mom was released from the hospital today. She is wearing a life vest that will monitor her heart and if her heart races and blood pressure plummets it will shock her back into rhythm.
We've sorted out her meds and have appointments lined up.
She is looking forward to talking Blue Nova Workshop LLC business. It seems to have been a bright spot and essential to her recovery.
Thank you for your love, support, prayers, and caring. We are so thankful.

Getting ready for our next Blue Nova Workshop Dine and Connect event on Thursday. Mom won't be able to join us because she is still healing in the hospital.
We've had some real highs and lows. She was moved back to ICU today. She has an infection that is now affecting kidneys. They started her on a medication that is to pump her heart much like the balloon did. We are encouraging her to eat and drink more.
Her spirits are good today. I'm posting this picture of us this summer at the butterfly garden from our big escapade to the Kentucky Castle and Wilson's Nursery.

Quick update on mom. We spent Wednesday night sitting in a chair and making corner bookmarks for a Leadership Library at work. She enjoyed all the paper colors and doing something normal. Amazing how crafting soothes your soul.

She had a rough night with her blood pressure bottoming out and had a room full of people helping her blood pressure stabilize. She may go home tomorrow with a life vest.

Thank you to our community for your support through my mom's hospitalization. It's heartwarming and touching that people who have never met or hardly know can be so kind and thoughtful. Blue Nova is all about connecting and caring and you all came through big time!

My mom, Donna, has made it through the heart balloon pump removal and her heart is beating on its own keeping pressure. Even with only 10% of the heart working. Lots of hard discussions and decisions yesterday, but today is looking very bright.
Thank you- Shawn and Donna

Blue Nova Workshop LLC was designed for many purposes and one of those was to build a business alongside my mom, Donna K. Smith. Together we wanted to build something to create with others connect others and care for others.
Unfortunately, she went to the hospital yesterday and she is very, very sick. We will be making big decisions in the coming days. So, I'm asking for prayers, good vibes, love and all good things for our family.
We wanted to share this with you even though we haven't personally met most of you.
