Sunday Gratitude

Almost Time

For years I held a dream inside,
A quiet hope I could not hide.
A place where handmade hearts could meet,
Where art and community shared one street.

For months I've watched that dream take form,
Through peaceful days and every storm.
Through permits, plans, and sleepless nights,
Through countless prayers that things go right.

I've researched, written, changed, begun,
Then changed again when I wasn't done.
I've built and planned and learned each day,
And prayed for God to guide the way.

There have been laughter, joy, and tears,
And moments nearly ruled by fears.
So many questions crossed my mind:
Will people come? What will we find?

Will vendors love this place we make?
Will others see the chance we take?
Will customers feel what I can see?
Will this become what it's meant to be?

I cannot know what lies ahead,
Or answer every fear I've fed.
But somewhere through each doubtful day,
Something beautiful came my way.

Someone said yes. And then one more.
And suddenly, hope walked through the door.
People who didn't know my name
Still saw the vision just the same.

They placed their trust into my hands
And chose to walk beside my plans.
We're building friendships. We're building trust.
We're building something made from us.

A place where someone's work is seen,
Where handmade means more than it seems.
Where neighbors gather, makers shine,
And separate dreams begin to intertwine.

I don't need hundreds on day one
To know that something has begun.
The biggest dreams can start out small,
With just a few who give their all.

So today I'm grateful for every part—
The easy days and the heavy heart.
The laughter, lessons, tears, and fear,
And every prayer that brought me here.

There is still work. There are butterflies.
There are still questions with no replies.
But something I've carried for years inside
Is almost ready to step outside.

And perhaps that's why these tears arrive...
The dream I've carried is coming alive.

So when those first white canopies rise,
And morning stretches across the skies,
I'll take one moment, breathe, and see...
What once was my dream has become our community. 💚

Sunday Gratitude
For the Moments We Haven't Lived Yet

Most of the time, gratitude asks us to look backward. But today, in a quiet moment, I found myself looking forward...
And I wondered: Can we be grateful for moments that haven't happened yet?

I think we can.

I imagined an artisan proudly saying, "Yes, I made this." Neighbors discovering talented local creators. Families enjoying the day. A sale being made. A conversation beginning.
A friendship forming. Little moments that haven't happened yet... but somehow already mean so much.

Because a market can become more than a place to shop. It can become a place where creativity is celebrated, small businesses are seen, and people feel connected.

So today, my gratitude reaches gently into the future. I'm grateful for the people we'll meet, the memories we'll make, and the beautiful little moments we can't possibly plan. We haven't lived them yet.

But today, with a little hope and a lot of gratitude... I'm smiling just thinking about them. 💚

CALLING FOOD TRUCKS & PREPARED FOOD VENDORS!

Tacos? BBQ? Burgers? Sandwiches? Hot Dogs? Pizza? Caribbean? Mediterranean? Asian Cuisine? Or something completely different? WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!!

Soulfully Crafted Market is looking for food trucks and prepared-food vendors serving full meals to join our inaugural season at Alamar Park in Avondale, Arizona. And here's something we're doing differently:

WE INTENTIONALLY LIMIT OUR PRIMARY MEAL VENDORS. We will host no more than TWO primary meal vendors per market date.

What do we mean by a primary meal vendor? Food trucks, Mobile Kitchens, or prepared-food businesses serving full meals—such as tacos, BBQ, burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, pizza, Caribbean cuisine, Mediterranean food, Asian cuisine, and other meal options.

And whenever possible, we will avoid booking two primary meal vendors with substantially similar menus. Why? Because we don't believe in filling a market with multiple businesses competing to sell the same thing. We want to create variety for our customers while giving each participating business a greater opportunity to stand out.

Our markets may also include a carefully curated selection of specialty food businesses offering baked goods, desserts, snacks, appetizers, specialty beverages, jams, candies, and other specialty foods.

Sunday Gratitude • A Glimmer of Hope

Sometimes hope doesn't arrive with answers.
Sometimes it arrives as the tiniest glimmer of light when you've been walking through a very long tunnel.

This week, I needed that light. Because there have been moments lately when I've felt lost. Disappointed. Unsure of what comes next.
I've questioned plans. I've questioned decisions. I've wondered whether something I've dreamed about for so many years will actually become what I imagined.

And then, somewhere among all those questions... I saw a little light.
Nothing suddenly became perfect. The challenges didn't disappear.
I still don't know exactly what will happen.

But something inside me whispered: Keep going. Keep dreaming. Keep creating beautiful things.
Keep doing the things you love.
Keep building the community you've imagined for so long.

And perhaps most importantly... Don't require certainty before allowing yourself to hope.

There will be mistakes. There will be plans that don't work. There will be things we have to change, lessons we didn't expect to learn, and probably a few moments when we wonder what in the world we got ourselves into.

That's part of building something.

But I've come to believe that a dream doesn't have to come with a guarantee to be worth pursuing.

I don't know exactly how this dream will unfold. But I know God placed it on my heart for a reason, and my responsibility isn't to know the ending.

My responsibility is to faithfully do what I can with the chapter I'm standing in. To keep creating. To keep learning. To keep planning. To keep showing up.

Because when talented makers, small businesses, community organizations, neighbors, families, and dreamers come together, a market can become so much more than a place to shop. It becomes a community.

And that is still the dream.

So today, I am grateful for the light at the end of the tunnel.
I'm grateful that after disappointment, I can still feel hope.
I'm grateful that despite the challenges, I still want to build this.
I'm grateful for the good, the bad, and yes... even some of the ugly, because every part of this journey has taught me something I needed to learn.

And I'm grateful that even when I don't understand why things haven't happened when—or how—I thought I needed them to happen, I can still trust that God sees farther down the road than I do.

Maybe that little glimmer isn't showing me the whole way forward. Maybe it's only giving me enough light for the next step.

And today... that's enough. 💚
