Huron County Toys for Tots The Holiday season is fast approaching and many people are beginning their holiday shopping. Toys for Tots embodies the true spirit of Christmas.

Huron County Toys for Tots helps provide needy children with toys on Christmas! The Huron County Toys for Tots team is prepared to work very hard to make Toys for Tots a success, but we could never do it without the help of concerned citizens and business leaders. We rely on local businesses, community members, and organizations for assistance in a number of areas, including but not limited to:
o

providing toy collection sites;
o underwriting special events (contact me for ideas)
o toy donations;
o and providing monetary donations. The gift of a shiny new toy-something most children take for granted-means to a needy child that someone cares, that he/she hasn’t been forgotten, that Christmas hasn’t passed him/her by. The Marine Corps Reserve believes that “Every Child deserves a Little Christmas,” and we are asking you to help us send the needy children of Huron County a message of hope this Christmas. Toys, Cash, or Check donations are accepted. Please make checks payable to “Toys for Tots”. I am willing to make arrangements to pick up donations. We also have toy drop boxes to place at your location if you are willing to be a drop location. Please call me for delivery of a drop box. Monetary Donations can be dropped off at the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. They can also be mailed to:

Just a reminder that Toys for Tots will not be happening this year in Huron County. As far as I know, no one signed up to be the coordinator during the open application window. Please plan accordingly to sign up for one of the other numerous giving programs in the county.

I informed everyone in February and again in May of my intent to be done. Its my understanding that it is too late to run it through the Marine Corps. I did have some wonderful people reach out but they unfortunately realized how much of an undertaking it would be and felt right now wasn't the right time for them.

It has been great to be able to help thousands of kids throughout my time as the coordinator. I may take this page down in the next month, but wanted to give a reminder.

Negative comments will be removed. We have a wonderful community that has done so much for so many years. I will not allow people to speak ill of this community on this page.

Hello again. The deadline is fast approaching for Huron County to apply to run a 2023 Christmas campaign for Huron County Toys for Tots. Please send me a private message if you would be interested in taking over as the Coordinator for this great program. I have responded to all that have private messaged me, so if your interested send me a message. Unfortunately, a couple individuals who were very serious in taking over the campaign have not responded back to me.

Note: This is an unpaid, volunteer position that requires an individual to be able to designate numerous hours a week September through January 15th.

Hello Everyone...

This decision wasn't taken lightly and has been something I have pondered for the last couple years. I have been the coordinator for Huron County Toys for Tots for 11 years. The program is so wonderful and helps so many needy children in Huron County. We are very lucky to have amazing donors in the community. With that being said, my family continues to grow, we foster, are involved in other groups, and I work full time making the Holiday season very busy and stressful for us. I have been fortunate to have my family and friends help out for so many years and it has made it truly enjoyable.

If you are interested in taking over the Huron County Toys for Tots please reach out to me. I will tell you the process to go through with the Marines and guide you through the next Christmas season. This is not a paid thing, but the thank you's and smiles on parents faces goes a long way. I do not intend on re-applying to run the campaign, but I'm hopeful someone will step up. I was told if I choose not to be the coordinator and no one steps up that the county may not have this program for the next holiday season. If you have questions or simply want to know what it all entails get a hold of me.

It truly has been a pleasure doing this for our community for so many years. I just need to be able focus on my family and also enjoy my little ones through every season, because we all know they grow up so fast.

We are working very hard to go through applications to see how many we can assist. Please refrain from reaching out to see if you were accepted until Thursday. This will allow us time to hopefully see who we can all help.

I have taken numerous calls today and this evening which really stalls the process. Keep an eye out for our call or text in the next few days. We have received more apps than ever before and with price increases on gifts we are trying to help as many as we can.

WHAT A BUSY WEEKEND...

We have begun packing the bags and its clear that the need is great again this year. We could really use some donations of blankets (Can't be homemade per foundation policies.), hats, gloves, hygiene products for baby to teen, 9 to 12 year old craft and science kits, colored pencils, markers, bath toys, and fidget toys. As always we are in high need of teen stocking stuffers, socks, and gifts to ensure they also have a Merry Christmas.

A huge shout out to Bay Port State Bank for organizing a fundraiser for us, Hot Dog/Brat Sale, back in August. We raised about $2000!
